  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1.5 cups breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 12 mozzarella cheese sticks
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons water

Directions

Step 1
Cut the mozzarella cheese sticks in half to make 24 pieces.
Step 2
Place the flour in a shallow bowl.
Step 3
In another shallow bowl, whisk the eggs and water together.
Step 4
In a third shallow bowl, combine the bread crumbs, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
Step 5
Dredge each cheese stick half in the flour, shaking off any excess.
Step 6
Dip the floured cheese stick into the egg mixture, then coat it with the bread crumbs. Press lightly to adhere. Repeat with all cheese sticks.

Place the coated cheese sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 1 hour.
Step 8
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).

Fry the cheese sticks in batches for 1-2 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.

Remove the cheese sticks with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
