Ingredients

  • 9 g active dry yeast
  • 600 g bread flour
  • 60 g butter
  • 1 egg
  • 120 ml milk
  • 10 g salt
  • 50 g sugar
  • 240 ml warm water

Directions

Step 1
In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until the mixture is frothy.
Step 2
Add the flour, salt, butter, and egg to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
Step 3
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Step 4
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
Step 5
Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball for burger buns or a log for hot dog buns.
Step 6
Place the shaped dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Step 7
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Step 8
Bake the buns for 15-20 minutes, until they are golden brown.
Step 9
Let the buns cool on a wire rack before serving.
