Ingredients

  • 10 g baking powder
  • 400 g dulce de leche
  • 4 eggs
  • 250 g flour
  • 120 ml milk
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 200 g sugar
  • 225 g unsalted butter
  • 5 ml vanilla extract

Directions

Step 1
Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour two 20 cm (8-inch) round cake pans.
Step 2
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Step 3
In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Step 4
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Step 5
Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
Step 6
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops with a spatula.
Step 7
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 8
Once the cakes are completely cool, place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a generous amount of dulce de leche over the top.
Step 9
Place the second cake layer on top and spread more dulce de leche over the top and sides of the cake.
Step 10
Refrigerate the cake for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
