Greek Tiropita

A delicious and savory Greek pie made with flaky phyllo dough and a creamy cheese filling. Perfect as an appetizer or a light snack.

Ingredients

  • 150 g butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 300 g feta cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 0.5 tsp pepper
  • 500 g phyllo dough
  • 200 g ricotta cheese
  • 1 tsp salt

Directions

Step 1
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
Step 2
In a large bowl, combine the crumbled feta cheese, ricotta cheese, beaten eggs, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
Step 3
Brush a baking dish with some melted butter. Layer half of the phyllo dough sheets in the dish, brushing each sheet with melted butter and olive oil mix.
Step 4
Pour the cheese mixture over the layered phyllo dough and spread it evenly.
Step 5
Cover with the remaining phyllo dough sheets, again brushing each sheet with the butter and olive oil mixture.
Step 6
Score the top layers of the phyllo dough into squares or diamond shapes to make cutting easier after baking.
Step 7
Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
Step 8
Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before cutting and serving.
