  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 tbsp fresh cilantro
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1 tbsp ginger
  • 500 g lamb shoulder
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 200 ml tomato puree
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 250 ml water
  • 150 ml yogurt

Directions

Step 1
Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat.
Step 2
Add the cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds until fragrant.

Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
Step 4
Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger, and cook for another minute.

Add the lamb cubes to the pan and cook until browned on all sides.

Sprinkle in the coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well to coat the lamb with the spices.

Pour in the tomato puree and plain yogurt. Stir to combine.

Add the water, bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 45-50 minutes, or until the lamb is tender.
Step 9
Stir in the garam masala and chopped fresh cilantro. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
Step 10
Serve the curried lamb hot with rice or naan.
