A traditional Russian dish, Beef Stroganoff is made with tender beef pieces cooked in a creamy mushroom sauce and served over egg noodles or rice. This comforting dish is perfect for a hearty dinner.

Ingredients

  • 250 ml beef broth
  • 500 g beef sirloin
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 300 g egg noodles
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 200 g mushrooms
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 120 ml sour cream

Directions

Step 1
Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Step 2
Add the sliced beef and cook until browned on all sides. Remove and set aside.
Step 3
In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onion is translucent.
Step 4
Add the sliced mushrooms and cook until they release their moisture and become golden brown.
Step 5
Sprinkle the flour over the mushroom mixture and stir to combine. Cook for 1-2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
Step 6
Slowly pour in the beef broth while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
Step 7
Return the browned beef to the skillet and bring the mixture to a simmer. Cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and the beef is tender.
Step 8
Stir in the sour cream, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
Step 9
Serve the Beef Stroganoff over cooked egg noodles or rice.
