A delightful combination of rich, fudgy brownies topped with a gooey, nutty pecan pie layer. Perfect for holidays or any special occasion.
Directions
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
Step 2
In a saucepan, melt the butter and semi-sweet chocolate over medium heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
Step 3
In a large bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
Step 4
Add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mixture and stir until combined.
Step 5
Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt, and fold until just combined. Do not overmix.
Step 6
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
Step 7
Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Step 8
While the brownies are baking, prepare the pecan pie topping. In a medium bowl, combine the pecans, light corn syrup, brown sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract.
Step 9
Once the brownies are done baking, pour the pecan mixture over the top and spread it out evenly.
Step 10
Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the pecan topping is set and golden brown.
Step 11
Remove from the oven and let it cool completely before cutting into squares.
