Ingredients

  • 240 grams all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 240 ml milk
  • 1 gram salt
  • 15 grams sugar
  • 5 ml vanilla extract
  • 500 ml vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, milk, egg, sugar, salt, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.
Step 2
Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large saucepan to 190°C (375°F).
Step 3
Attach the rosette iron to its handle and immerse in the hot oil for about a minute.
Step 4
Dip the hot rosette iron into the batter, making sure not to cover the top of the iron.
Step 5
Carefully place the batter-coated iron into the hot oil. Fry until the rosette is golden brown, about 30 seconds.
Step 6
Remove the rosette from the oil and gently shake off any excess oil.
Step 7
Use a fork to remove the rosette from the iron and place it on paper towels to drain. Repeat with remaining batter.
Step 8
Once all rosettes are fried, sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired and serve.
