  • 240 g all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 tsp baking powder
  • 1.5 tsp baking soda
  • 60 g cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 300 g sugar
  • 120 ml unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 120 ml vegetable oil
  • 240 ml water
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar

Directions

Step 1
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
Step 2
In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Add the sugar, applesauce, vanilla extract, and white vinegar to the dry ingredients. Mix well.
Step 4
Add the vegetable oil and water to the mixture and stir until smooth and well combined.
Step 5
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly.
Step 6
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
