  • 15 g butter
  • 1 egg
  • 720 ml milk
  • 180 g rice
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 150 g sugar
  • 5 ml vanilla extract
  • 480 ml water

Directions

Step 1
In a medium saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Add rice and stir. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
Step 2
In another saucepan, combine 1 1/2 cups of the milk, sugar, and salt. Cook over medium heat until thick and creamy, stirring occasionally.
Step 3
Stir in the cooked rice and remaining 1 1/2 cups of milk. Cook over medium heat until mixture becomes thick and creamy, about 15 to 20 minutes.
Step 4
Slowly stir in a small amount of the hot rice mixture into the beaten egg to temper it. Then, add the egg mixture back into the saucepan.
Step 5
Cook for 2 more minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla extract.
Step 6
Serve warm or chilled, as desired.
