Serbian Ćevapčići

Ćevapčići are small, grilled sausages made from minced meat, popular in the Balkans. This Serbian recipe is flavorful and easy to prepare, perfect for a barbecue or a family dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 500 g ground beef
  • 250 g ground pork
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 100 ml sparkling water

Directions

Step 1
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef and ground pork.
Step 2
Add the finely chopped onion, minced garlic, paprika, baking soda, salt, and black pepper to the meat mixture. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
Step 3
Pour in the sparkling water and mix again until the mixture is smooth and sticky.
Step 4
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for better flavor.
Step 5
Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
Step 6
Shape the meat mixture into small, finger-sized sausages, about 7-10 cm long.
Step 7
Grill the sausages for about 10-12 minutes, turning them occasionally, until they are browned and cooked through.
Step 8
Serve the Ćevapčići hot with onions, fresh bread, and your favorite condiments.
