Directions
Step 1
In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, cocoa powder, flour, cornstarch, and salt. Gradually stir in milk.

Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture is thickened and bubbly. Continue cooking and stirring for 2 more minutes. Remove from heat.

Gradually stir about 1 cup of the hot mixture into the beaten egg yolks, then return the egg mixture to the saucepan. Bring to a gentle boil and cook and stir for 2 more minutes. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla extract.
Step 4
Pour the filling into the pre-baked pie crust. Cover with plastic wrap, pressing the wrap directly onto the surface of the filling to prevent a skin from forming.
Step 5
Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours before serving. Top with whipped cream before serving.
