Stuffed Cabbage Rolls, also known as Sarma, are a delicious and hearty dish made with cabbage leaves filled with a flavorful mixture of ground meat, rice, and spices. They are typically simmered in a rich tomato sauce until tender and juicy.
Directions
Step 1
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the core from the cabbage and place the head in boiling water. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the leaves are pliable. Remove the cabbage and let it cool.
Step 2
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.
Step 3
Remove the cabbage leaves one by one. Place a small amount of the meat mixture in the center of each leaf and roll it up, tucking in the sides to secure the filling.
Step 4
In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the stuffed cabbage rolls, seam side down, and cook until lightly browned.
Step 5
Pour the tomato sauce and water over the cabbage rolls. Bring to a simmer, cover, and cook for 1 hour, or until the cabbage is tender and the filling is cooked through.
