Ingredients

  • 3 bay leaves
  • 1 tbsp black peppercorns
  • 1.5 kg chicken thighs
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 6 cloves garlic
  • 1 onion
  • 0.5 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 0.5 cup vinegar
  • 1 cup water

Directions

Step 1
In a large pot, combine chicken, soy sauce, vinegar, water, garlic, bay leaves, peppercorns, and sugar.
Step 2
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer for 30 minutes.
Step 3
Remove chicken from the pot and set aside.
Step 4
In a separate pan, heat the cooking oil over medium heat.
Step 5
Add onion and sauté until translucent.
Step 6
Add the chicken pieces to the pan and fry until golden brown.
Step 7
Return the chicken to the pot with the sauce and let it simmer for another 10 minutes.
Step 8
Serve hot with steamed rice.
