A festive and delicious chocolate yule log, perfect for holiday celebrations. This dessert features a light and airy chocolate sponge cake rolled with a rich and creamy chocolate filling, then topped with a decadent chocolate ganache.
Directions
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a 33x23cm (13x9in) baking tray with parchment paper.
Step 2
In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs and granulated sugar until thick and pale. Add the vanilla extract.

Sift the flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder into the bowl and fold gently to combine.
Step 4
Pour the batter into the prepared baking tray and spread evenly. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the sponge springs back when pressed.
Step 5
Turn the sponge out onto a clean tea towel dusted with powdered sugar. Peel off the parchment paper and roll the sponge up with the towel. Leave to cool completely.

For the filling, whip the heavy cream to stiff peaks. Fold in the powdered sugar.

Unroll the cooled sponge and spread the whipped cream filling evenly over it. Roll the sponge back up without the towel. Set aside.
Step 8
For the ganache, melt the dark chocolate and butter together in a heatproof bowl set over a pot of simmering water. Stir until smooth.
Step 9
Spread the ganache over the rolled cake. Use a fork to create a bark-like texture on the surface.
Step 10
Chill the yule log in the fridge for at least 1 hour before serving.
