Italian Meatball Sandwich

A delicious and hearty Italian meatball sandwich made with homemade meatballs, marinara sauce, and melted cheese, served on a toasted hoagie roll.

Ingredients

  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 120 g breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 500 g ground beef
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 500 ml marinara sauce
  • 200 g mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 50 g parmesan cheese
  • 15 g parsley
  • 1 tsp salt

Directions

Step 1
Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).
Step 2
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic, parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
Step 3
Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the meatballs until they are browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.

Transfer the meatballs to a baking dish and pour marinara sauce over them.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until the meatballs are cooked through.

While the meatballs are baking, toast the hoagie rolls in the oven or a toaster.

Place meatballs on the toasted hoagie rolls, spooning sauce over them, and top with shredded mozzarella cheese.

Return the sandwiches to the oven and bake until the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 5 minutes.
