A simple and hearty casserole combining ground beef, cabbage, and rice, inspired by traditional Golumpki (stuffed cabbage rolls) but much easier to prepare.
Directions
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
Step 2
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
Step 3
Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the onion is translucent.
Step 4
Stir in the chopped cabbage and cook until wilted, about 5 minutes.
Step 5
In a large bowl, combine the cooked rice, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, salt, black pepper, sugar, and water.
Step 6
Add the beef and cabbage mixture to the bowl and stir to combine.
Step 7
Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and cover with aluminum foil.
Step 8
Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is slightly browned.
