  • 190 g all-purpose flour
  • 2.5 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 240 ml boiling water
  • 75 g cocoa powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 400 g sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 120 ml vegetable oil
  • 240 ml whole milk

Directions

Step 1
Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
Step 2
In a large bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Step 3
Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the flour mixture and beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes.
Step 4
Stir in the boiling water last. The batter will be thin.
Step 5
Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Step 6
Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove from the pans and place on a wire rack to cool completely.
