  • 240 g masa harina
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 300 ml water

Directions

Step 1
In a large bowl, combine the masa harina and salt. Gradually add the water, mixing until a soft dough forms.

Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and roll each piece into a ball.

Flatten each ball into a disk about 1/4-inch thick.

Place about 2 tablespoons of shredded cheese in the center of each disk.

Fold the edges of the dough over the cheese and pinch to seal. Flatten the filled dough gently to form a thick disk.

Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Cook the pupusas for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cooked through.
