Place the eggs in a single layer in a saucepan and cover with enough water to cover the eggs by 1 inch. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

Drain the water and immediately run cold water over the eggs until they are cool to the touch. Peel the eggs and slice them in half lengthwise.
