Crunchy, tangy and slightly spicy dilly beans make a perfect snack or side dish. These pickled green beans are easy to prepare and delicious.
Directions
Step 1
Sterilize 4 pint jars and lids by boiling them in water for 10 minutes.
Step 2
Place 1 dill head, 1 garlic clove, and 0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes in each jar.
Step 3
Pack the green beans into the jars, standing them upright.
Step 4
In a large saucepan, bring water, vinegar, and pickling salt to a boil.
Step 5
Pour the boiling brine over the beans, leaving 1 cm headspace.
Step 6
Remove air bubbles and adjust headspace if necessary by adding more brine.
Step 7
Wipe rim and center lid on jar. Apply band until fit is fingertip tight.
Step 8
Process jars in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
Step 9
Remove jars and cool. Check lids for seal after 24 hours. Lid should not flex up and down when center is pressed.
