  • 1 bay leaf
  • 240 ml beef broth
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 900 g eye round steak
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 onion
  • 240 ml red wine
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 30 ml tomato paste
  • 15 ml vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Step 2
Add the eye round steak and brown it on all sides, about 4 minutes per side.
Step 3
Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
Step 4
In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
Step 5
Stir in the beef broth, red wine, tomato paste, minced garlic, bay leaf, salt, and black pepper.
Step 6
Return the steak to the skillet, cover, and reduce heat to low.
Step 7
Simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the steak is tender.
Step 8
Remove the bay leaf before serving.
