Ingredients

8 Servings
  • 2.5 tsp active dry yeast
  • 400 g all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 240 ml milk
  • 150 g pearl sugar
  • 5 g salt
  • 15 g sugar
  • 170 g unsalted butter
  • 5 ml vanilla extract

Directions

Step 1
Warm the milk until it's lukewarm. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm milk with the sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
Step 2
In a large mixing bowl, whisk the eggs and vanilla extract. Add the melted butter and mix well.
Step 3
Add the flour and salt to the egg mixture. Pour in the yeast mixture and stir until a dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
Step 4
Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
Step 5
Gently fold the pearl sugar into the dough until evenly distributed.
Step 6
Preheat your waffle iron. Divide the dough into portions that fit your waffle iron. Cook the waffles according to the manufacturer's instructions until golden brown and crisp.
Step 7
Serve the waffles warm, optionally topped with additional butter, syrup, or fresh fruit.
