Ingredients

  • 10 g active dry yeast
  • 1000 g all-purpose flour
  • 5 g black pepper
  • 60 g butter
  • 500 g cabbage
  • 500 g ground beef
  • 250 ml milk
  • 1 onion
  • 10 g salt
  • 5 g salt
  • 50 g sugar
  • 250 ml water

Directions

Step 1
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
Step 2
Heat milk, water, and butter until warm (not hot) and add to the flour mixture.
Step 3
Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.

Add chopped cabbage and onion to the skillet. Season with salt and black pepper. Cook until cabbage is tender.

Punch down the risen dough and divide into 12 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball.

Flatten each dough ball and fill with a generous amount of the beef and cabbage mixture.

Pinch the edges of the dough to seal and place seam-side down on a baking sheet.

Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F).

Bake bierocks for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
