Classic Peruvian Causa

A traditional Peruvian dish made with layers of seasoned mashed potatoes, avocado, and a spiced tuna filling, perfect for a light and flavorful meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp aji amarillo paste
  • 2 avocado
  • 10 black olives
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 boiled egg
  • 1 can canned tuna
  • 3 tbsp lime juice
  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 0.5 red onion
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 6 yellow potatoes

Directions

Step 1
Boil the yellow potatoes until tender, then peel and mash them until smooth.
Step 2
Mix the mashed potatoes with aji amarillo paste, lime juice, vegetable oil, salt, and pepper until well combined.
Step 3
In a separate bowl, mix the canned tuna with mayonnaise and finely chopped red onion.
Step 4
Slice the avocados thinly.
Step 5
In a serving dish, spread half of the mashed potato mixture evenly.
Step 6
Add a layer of sliced avocado on top of the mashed potatoes.
Step 7
Spread the tuna mixture over the avocado slices.
Step 8
Add another layer of sliced avocado over the tuna mixture.
Step 9
Top with the remaining mashed potato mixture and smooth the surface.
Step 10
Garnish with slices of boiled egg and black olives.
Step 11
Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to let the flavors meld together.
