Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 pieces steak
  • 2 sprigs thyme
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Step 2
Season both sides of the steak with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
Step 3
Heat a cast iron pan over high heat until it is extremely hot. Add the vegetable oil and heat until it begins to smoke.
Step 4
Place the steaks in the pan and sear for 2 minutes without moving them. Flip the steaks and sear the other side for another 2 minutes.
Step 5
Add the butter, garlic, and thyme to the pan. Using a spoon, baste the steaks with the melted butter and allow the aromatic flavors to infuse the meat.
Step 6
Transfer the cast iron pan to the preheated oven. Roast the steaks in the oven for 6-8 minutes, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
Step 7
Remove the pan from the oven and let the steaks rest for 5 minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.
