  • 250 g all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 110 g brown sugar
  • 170 g butter
  • 240 ml buttermilk
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.5 tsp cloves
  • 2 eggs
  • 0.5 tsp ginger
  • 0.5 tsp nutmeg
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 200 g sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions

Step 1
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
Step 2
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Step 3
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
Step 4
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and salt.
Step 5
Add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with the buttermilk, mixing just until incorporated.
Step 6
Pour batter into the prepared pan.
Step 7
Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
Step 8
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
