Ingredients

  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 30 g butter
  • 2 stalks celery
  • 1500 ml chicken broth
  • 6 chicken thighs
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 300 g long-grain rice
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 450 g smoked sausage

Directions

Step 1
In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
Step 2
Add the chopped onion, celery, and garlic. Cook until they are soft and fragrant.
Step 3
Add the chicken thighs to the pot, cooking until they are browned on all sides.
Step 4
Stir in the sliced smoked sausage and cook for a few more minutes.
Step 5
Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a boil.
Step 6
Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for about 30 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked.
Step 7
Remove the chicken thighs from the pot and shred the meat, discarding the bones and skin.
Step 8
Return the shredded chicken to the pot and add the rice, salt, black pepper, and bay leaves.
Step 9
Cover and cook on low heat for another 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is tender and has absorbed the liquid.
Step 10
Remove the bay leaves before serving.
