Ingredients

  • 1 bell pepper
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp cumin
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 500 grams ground beef
  • 50 grams olives
  • 1 onion
  • 12 pastry discs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 200 ml tomato sauce
  • 500 ml vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1
Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
Step 2
Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and chopped bell pepper to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are soft.
Step 3
Stir in the tomato sauce, olives, salt, black pepper, and cumin. Simmer for about 10 minutes until the mixture thickens.
Step 4
Remove the skillet from heat and let the filling cool slightly.
Step 5
Take one pastry disc and place a spoonful of the meat filling in the center. Fold the disc over to form a half-moon shape and press the edges together to seal. Repeat with remaining discs and filling.

Heat the vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat.

Carefully place the sealed pastelillos in the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
Step 8
Remove the pastelillos from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve warm.
