Ingredients

  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 450 g pinto beans
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1500 ml water

Directions

Step 1
Rinse the pinto beans under cold water and drain.
Step 2
Add the rinsed beans, water, diced onion, minced garlic, salt, pepper, cumin, and bay leaves to the Instant Pot.
Step 3
Secure the lid and set the pressure release valve to sealing.
Step 4
Select the 'Manual' or 'Pressure Cook' button and set the cook time to 50 minutes on high pressure.
Step 5
Once the cook time is complete, allow the pressure to release naturally for 15 minutes, then use the quick release to release any remaining pressure.
Step 6
Open the lid, discard the bay leaves, and stir the beans. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
Step 7
Serve the beans warm or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
