Ingredients

  • 500 grams fresh cherries
  • 60 ml kirsch or brandy
  • 30 ml lemon juice
  • 100 grams sugar
  • 1 liter vanilla ice cream

Directions

Step 1
In a large skillet, combine the cherries, sugar, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the cherries release their juices and the sugar is dissolved.
Step 2
Continue to cook until the mixture thickens slightly, about 10 minutes.
Step 3
Remove the skillet from the heat and carefully add the kirsch or brandy.
Step 4
Return the skillet to the heat and ignite the alcohol with a long match. Let the flames subside.
Step 5
Serve immediately over scoops of vanilla ice cream.
