  • 500 g kumquats
  • 300 g sugar
  • 250 ml water

Directions

Step 1
Wash the kumquats thoroughly and slice them into thin rounds, removing any seeds.
Step 2
In a saucepan, combine the water and sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is dissolved.
Step 3
Add the sliced kumquats to the sugar syrup. Reduce the heat and simmer gently for about 30 minutes, or until the kumquats are translucent and tender.
Step 4
Remove the kumquats from the syrup with a slotted spoon and transfer them to a wire rack to cool and dry slightly.
Step 5
Continue to simmer the syrup for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until it thickens slightly.
Step 6
Once the kumquats are cool, transfer them to an airtight container and pour the thickened syrup over them.
Step 7
Store in the refrigerator and enjoy as a topping or sweet treat.
