Classic Marsala Sauce

Ingredients

  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 240 ml chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 60 ml heavy cream
  • 120 ml Marsala wine
  • 250 grams mushrooms
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 shallots

Directions

Step 1
Melt the butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Step 2
Add the shallots and garlic, and sauté until fragrant and translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
Step 3
Add the mushrooms and cook until they have released their moisture and are golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
Step 4
Pour in the Marsala wine and bring to a simmer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the wine has reduced slightly.
Step 5
Add the chicken broth and continue to simmer for another 5 minutes.
Step 6
Stir in the heavy cream, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce has thickened slightly.
Step 7
Remove from heat and stir in the fresh parsley. Serve warm over meat or pasta.
