Classic Mango Chutney

A sweet and tangy mango chutney perfect for serving with curries, sandwiches, or as a dip. This homemade chutney brings a burst of tropical flavor to any dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tbsp ginger
  • 4 mangoes
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp red chili flakes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 200 g sugar
  • 120 ml vinegar
  • 100 ml water

Directions

Step 1
Peel and dice the mangoes, then set them aside.
Step 2
In a large pot, combine sugar, vinegar, and water. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
Step 3
Add the diced mangoes, ginger, garlic, chili flakes, salt, cumin seeds, and mustard seeds to the pot.
Step 4
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 5
Continue to simmer until the chutney thickens and the mango pieces are tender.
Step 6
Remove the pot from the heat and let the chutney cool.
Step 7
Transfer the chutney to sterilized jars and store in the refrigerator.
