  • 480 g bread flour
  • 7 g bread machine yeast
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 9 g salt
  • 360 ml warm water
  • 15 g white sugar

Directions

Step 1
Combine the yeast, warm water, and sugar in a large bowl. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

Add the bread flour and salt to the yeast mixture, and mix until a dough forms.

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Punch down the dough and divide it into two equal portions. Shape each portion into a baguette and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Cover the baguettes with a damp cloth and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 220°C (430°F).

Brush the baguettes with the beaten egg yolk to give them a shiny crust.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
