Grease a baking dish with a small amount of butter.

In a large bowl, combine the cubed stale bread and raisins.

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well mixed.

Pour the milk mixture over the bread and raisins, and let it sit for about 10 minutes to allow the bread to soak up the liquid.
