Microwave Mochi

A quick and easy recipe to make delicious microwave mochi using glutinous rice flour, potato starch, white sugar, and a touch of white vinegar.

Ingredients

  • 160 g glutinous rice flour
  • 50 g potato starch
  • 100 g white sugar
  • 5 ml white vinegar

Directions

Step 1
In a microwave-safe bowl, mix the glutinous rice flour and white sugar.
Step 2
Add water to the bowl and stir until the mixture is smooth.
Step 3
Add a few drops of white vinegar to the mixture and stir well.
Step 4
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, leaving a small gap for steam to escape.
Step 5
Microwave the mixture on high for 2 minutes.
Step 6
Stir the mixture and microwave for another 1-2 minutes until it becomes a translucent dough.
Step 7
Dust a clean surface with potato starch and transfer the mochi dough onto it.
Step 8
Let the dough cool slightly, then cut into pieces and shape as desired.
Step 9
Coat each piece with additional potato starch to prevent sticking.
