Loukoumades are traditional Greek donuts that are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They are typically drizzled with honey and sprinkled with cinnamon, making them a delightful sweet treat.

  • 500 grams all-purpose flour
  • 10 grams dry yeast
  • 5 grams ground cinnamon
  • 200 grams honey
  • 15 ml olive oil
  • 5 grams salt
  • 50 grams sugar
  • vegetable oil
  • 375 ml warm water

Directions

Step 1
In a large bowl, combine the flour, dry yeast, sugar, and salt.

Gradually add the warm water and olive oil while mixing to form a smooth batter.
Step 3
Cover the bowl with a clean towel and let the batter rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 180°C (350°F).

Using a spoon or a cookie scoop, drop small portions of the batter into the hot oil.
Step 6
Fry the dough balls until they are golden brown and crispy, turning them occasionally to ensure even cooking.
Step 7
Remove the loukoumades from the oil and drain them on paper towels.
Step 8
Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with ground cinnamon before serving.
