Ingredients

4 Servings
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 500 ml beef broth
  • 4 beef round steaks
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp mustard
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 2 pickle
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1
Lay out the beef slices and spread mustard evenly over each slice.
Step 2
Place a slice of bacon, some chopped onion, and a pickle quarter on each beef slice. Season with salt and pepper.
Step 3
Roll up each beef slice tightly and secure with toothpicks or kitchen twine.
Step 4
Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Brown the rouladen on all sides, then remove them from the pot.
Step 5
In the same pot, melt the butter and add the remaining chopped onions. Cook until onions are golden brown.
Step 6
Sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir well. Gradually add the beef broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
Step 7
Return the rouladen to the pot, cover and simmer for about 90 minutes or until the meat is tender.
Step 8
Remove the rouladen from the pot and remove the toothpicks or twine. Serve the rouladen with the sauce.
