Ingredients

  • 50 g almonds
  • 1 tsp cardamom
  • 500 ml milk
  • 50 g raisins
  • 200 g rice
  • 100 g sugar
  • 400 ml water

Directions

Step 1
Rinse the rice thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear.
Step 2
In a large pot, bring the water to a boil and add the rice. Cook for about 10 minutes, until the rice is partially cooked.
Step 3
Drain the rice and set it aside.
Step 4
In the same pot, bring the milk to a boil. Reduce the heat and add the partially cooked rice, stirring frequently.
Step 5
Cook the rice in the milk on low heat until it is fully cooked and the mixture has thickened, about 20 minutes.
Step 6
Add the sugar and ground cardamom to the rice mixture, stirring well to combine.
Step 7
Continue to cook for another 5 minutes until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Step 8
Stir in the raisins and sliced almonds, and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
Step 9
Remove the pot from heat and let the sweet rice cool slightly before serving.
Step 10
Serve warm or chilled, garnished with extra almonds if desired.
