Ingredients

  • 7 g active dry yeast
  • 200 g almond paste
  • 225 g butter
  • 1 egg
  • 280 g flour
  • 120 ml milk
  • 100 g powdered sugar
  • 5 g salt
  • 50 g sliced almonds
  • 50 g sugar
  • 5 ml vanilla extract
  • 120 ml water

Directions

Step 1
In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Step 2
In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk. Let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes.
Step 3
Stir the yeast mixture, egg, and cold water into the flour mixture until just combined. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Step 4
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 5
On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough into a large rectangle. Spread the almond paste evenly over the dough.
Step 6
Fold the long sides of the dough towards the center and then fold the ends under to form a log. Place on the prepared baking sheet.
Step 7
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown.
Step 8
In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and water to make a glaze. Drizzle over the warm kringle.
Step 9
Sprinkle with sliced almonds. Let cool slightly before serving.
