Ingredients

4 Servings
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 500 ml buttermilk
  • 0.5 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 8 chicken pieces
  • 300 g flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1000 ml vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1
In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Add the chicken pieces and ensure they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
Step 2
In another bowl, mix the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.
Step 3
Remove the chicken pieces from the buttermilk mixture, allowing the excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating.
Step 4
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep fryer to 175°C (350°F).
Step 5
Fry the chicken in batches, careful not to overcrowd the pan. Cook each piece for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 74°C (165°F).
Step 6
Drain the fried chicken on a wire rack or paper towels. Serve hot.
