Simple Turkey Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 200 g butter
  • 2 carrot
  • 3 stalks celery
  • 500 ml chicken broth
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 onion
  • 4 sprigs rosemary
  • 4 leaves sage
  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 4 sprigs thyme
  • 5 kg turkey

Directions

Step 1
Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F).
Step 2
Remove the turkey from the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
Step 3
Pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
Step 4
Rub the turkey with the softened butter, both under and over the skin.
Step 5
Season the turkey generously with salt and black pepper.
Step 6
Stuff the cavity with the minced garlic, lemon halves, rosemary, thyme, and sage.
Step 7
Place the chopped carrots, celery, and onion in the bottom of a large roasting pan.
Step 8
Set the turkey on top of the vegetables in the roasting pan.
Step 9
Pour the chicken broth into the bottom of the pan.
Step 10
Roast the turkey in the preheated oven for about 3 to 3.5 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 75°C (165°F).
Step 11
If the turkey begins to brown too quickly, cover it with aluminum foil.
Step 12
Let the turkey rest for 20 to 30 minutes before carving.
