Authentic German Currywurst

Currywurst is a popular German street food consisting of steamed, then fried pork sausage, cut into slices and seasoned with curry ketchup.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp curry powder
  • 200 ml ketchup
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 pinch pepper
  • 4 pork sausages
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp vinegar

Directions

Step 1
Steam the pork sausages for about 10 minutes.
Step 2
Heat vegetable oil in a pan and fry the sausages until they are golden brown.
Step 3
Remove the sausages from the pan and cut them into slices.
Step 4
In the same pan, add the finely chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
Step 5
Add ketchup, curry powder, paprika, sugar, vinegar, salt, and pepper to the pan. Stir well and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
Step 6
Pour the curry sauce over the sliced sausages and serve hot.
