Chicha Morada is a traditional Peruvian drink made from purple corn, pineapple, and spices. It's a refreshing and flavorful beverage that can be enjoyed both hot and cold.

Ingredients

  • 1 apple
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 5 cloves
  • 60 ml lime juice
  • 1 pineapple
  • 450 g purple corn
  • 200 g sugar
  • 3.5 l water

Directions

Step 1
In a large pot, combine the purple corn, water, pineapple chunks, cinnamon sticks, and cloves.
Step 2
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
Step 3
Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 50 minutes.
Step 4
Remove from heat and strain the liquid into another container, discarding the solids.
Step 5
Add the sugar and lime juice to the strained liquid, stirring until the sugar has dissolved.
Step 6
Let the mixture cool to room temperature.
Step 7
Refrigerate the Chicha Morada until chilled.
Step 8
Serve cold, optionally with ice and apple chunks as garnish.
