Fill a microwave-safe bowl with 120ml of water.

Crack the egg into the bowl, ensuring it is fully submerged in the water.

Add a pinch of salt and 5ml of vinegar (if using) to the water.

Cover the bowl with a microwave-safe plate.
Step 5
Microwave on high for 1 minute. If the egg is not cooked to your liking, continue microwaving in 15-second intervals.

Carefully remove the bowl from the microwave (it will be hot).

Use a slotted spoon to remove the poached egg from the water.
