Ingredients

  • 480 ml beef broth
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 60 g bread crumbs
  • 30 g butter
  • 1 egg
  • 30 g flour
  • 450 g ground beef
  • 60 ml milk
  • 200 g mushrooms
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Directions

Step 1
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, milk, chopped onion, egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
Step 2
Shape the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.
Step 3
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Step 4
In the same skillet, add butter and sliced mushrooms. Cook until the mushrooms are tender.
Step 5
Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir well to combine.
Step 6
Gradually add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring constantly. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
Step 7
Return the beef patties to the skillet and spoon some of the gravy over them.
Step 8
Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 15 minutes, or until the patties are cooked through and the gravy has thickened.
Step 9
Serve the Salisbury steak hot, topped with the mushroom gravy.
