Classic Cake Donuts

Ingredients

  • 500 g all-purpose flour
  • 15 g baking powder
  • 60 g butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 g ground nutmeg
  • 250 ml milk
  • 5 g salt
  • 200 g sugar
  • vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
Step 2
Add the milk, beaten eggs, and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Stir until well combined.
Step 3
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead lightly. Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness.
Step 4
Cut out donuts with a donut cutter or two round cutters of different sizes.
Step 5
Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large heavy skillet to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Step 6
Fry donuts in hot oil until golden brown, turning once. Drain on paper towels.
