  • 2 bay leaves
  • 500 milliliters beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 800 grams canned tomatoes
  • 2 carrots
  • 2 celery sticks
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 500 grams ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion
  • 50 grams parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste

Directions

Step 1
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
Step 2
Add finely chopped onion, carrots, and celery. Cook until vegetables are soft.
Step 3
Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
Step 4
Add ground beef and cook until browned.
Step 5
Stir in tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes.
Step 6
Add crushed canned tomatoes and beef broth. Stir well.
Step 7
Add bay leaves, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.
Step 8
Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low. Cover and cook for 1.5 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
Step 9
Remove bay leaves and adjust seasoning if needed.
Step 10
Serve over pasta or rice, topped with grated parmesan cheese.
