Ingredients

  • 50 grams all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 2 tablespoons ghee
  • 100 milliliters milk
  • 200 grams milk powder
  • oil
  • 1 teaspoon rose water
  • 300 grams sugar
  • 250 milliliters water

Directions

Step 1
In a mixing bowl, combine milk powder, all-purpose flour, and baking soda.
Step 2
Add ghee to the dry ingredients and mix well until it resembles breadcrumbs.
Step 3
Gradually add milk and knead gently to form a soft dough. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
Step 4
In a separate pan, combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil and simmer until the syrup thickens slightly. Add cardamom powder and rose water. Set aside.
Step 5
Divide the dough into small equal portions and roll them into smooth balls.
Step 6
Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Fry the dough balls until they are golden brown and cooked through.
Step 7
Remove from oil and drain excess oil on paper towels.
Step 8
Soak the fried dough balls in the warm sugar syrup for at least 2 hours.
Step 9
Serve the Gulab Jamun warm or at room temperature, garnished with chopped nuts if desired.
